Born in darkness,
Mine the plight of all men.
Shackled and helpless
In chains of sin.

When deep called unto deep,
Piercing through the night....
Mighty God said,
"Let there be light."

As dew falls from heaven,
Jesus, the Son unveiled, held a key.
His glory more brilliant that 10,000 suns,
The Door opened before me.

He took me to the depths,
That I might scale the heights,
And stand on Mount Zion--
Where all blessings alight.

I'm looking for a city whose builder and maker is God,
Eden was lost to man--all were bound,
But a lamb was slain before the foundation of the world,
Setting us free to return with a joyful sound.

The grass will burn, trees be uprooted,
The mountains shake, and the sea turn to blood.
The key to the door unlocked the fountains within my heart,
Passions, desires and agitation, all must die in the flood.

When death has done its work,
There will be no more sea,
But the dawning of a new day,
a new song--a new nature for you and me
